Got my First Aid Training certificate. What a fun experience. I thought it would just be a manual and a test but there was an actual practical exercise and the trainer was so helpful... and funny. Looking forward to booking for my Fire Safety Training.

COMPANY BACKGROUND

Africa Medical started in June 2000, and is located at 513 Church Street, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. The senior management have a combined experience in excess of 50 years experience in emergency care and training. This company conforms to Black Economic Empowerment. The core of our business is Medical and Fire Training, Medical and Fire equipment Sales and Consultancy in Health and Safety.

NATURE OF BUSINESS

TRAINING

Our ability to provide personal attention to clients is achieved by small class numbers and lecturers with a minimum of five years practical experience in their field. We pride ourselves on taking complex concepts and relating them to cultural and educational standards of the audience so that candidates can fully appreciate and understand the concept. Remedial training of skills until competency is achieved allows candidates to graduate.

Level 1, 2 & 3 First Aid courses are accredited by the Department of Labour as required by the OHS Act. Paramedical courses are accredited and registered with the Health Professions Council of SA (HPCSA). HIV/AIDS Awareness, HIV Peer Educators and Manager training is presently undertaken in the Kwa-Zulu area.

The company has trained 10,522 candidates at various levels and been associated with training of approximately 9,615 candidates in combination with associated companies. Due to the cost effectiveness and quality of training, we have aquired ongoing business from many of our corporate clients.

We have thus far completed training in Syria and Zambia.

SALES - Products and Services

Our sales section advises on the most suitable product for a particular function, even if it’s a competitor’s product.

We offer Regulation 3 and 7 First Aid kits, portable medical equipment, medical sundries and Fire Fighting equipment, which are supplied to individuals, corporate clients, government institutions and Mines.

CONSULTANCY

We have been sub contracted for our expertise in pre-hospital health and disaster management, our most important role in consulting has been on advising the Msunduzi Municipality on their National Grant application, Water for Africa on their mitigation measures for the construction of water pipelines in the Gauteng area. Our consultancy also includes Risk Management, design of Evacuation plans and Provide Guidelines for HIV/AIDS policies in the workplace.

Our Other Achievements:

  • Establishing a Private and Provincial ambulance service.
  • Advising and supplying of equipment for a small hospital and clinic.
  • Commissioning of an oxygen and vacume system in a private hospital.
  • Conducting Risk Assessments for various Insurance Companies.

STRENGTHS

In-house expertise and company flexibility allows for the accommodation of clients needs by adding specific course components to satisfy the customer requirements and venues suitable to a client. This is complemented with the ability of staff to draw on past practical experience, thus providing quality education and advice.

Management is involved with the daily operations allowing for direct supervision of any changing circumstance. Policy requires management to stay abreast of local and international trends, which is conveyed to staff for the clients benefit.

ASSOCIATIONS AND ACCREDITATIONS

Africa Medical is a member of Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Business.

All facilitating staff is registered with the HPCSA. Medical course accreditation is with the Department of Labour, Health Welfare SETA, and HPCSA.Africa Medical is also affiliated to the Umgungundlovu FET College.

Africa Medical, besides being an accredited training company, also provides cost effective First Aid equipment to the various industries and businesses. We boast that we are a one stop shop for safety gear for most industries.

Regulation 3 First Aid kits, for factories, shops or offices that are pre-packed which are available on request.

Another initiative that Africa Medical has undertaken is to supply individual items to replenish items used from your First Aid Kit.

We are about the only company that produces Enduro kits to the motorbike racing fraternity.

First Aid kits are also supplied to the customer’s specifications on request.
