Family event

It is important to note our proximity to the university campus, the historical town centre of Stellenbosch and the sport complex at Coetzenburg. All of these can be reached on foot within 10 minutes. But, equally important are Caledon Villa’s own facilities – a spacious garden and pool where our guests can relax and be spoilt with refreshments.

The rooms are provided with modern amenities such as TV, WIFI, bar fridge and most of them with air-conditioning.

As one of the first guest houses of its kind in Stellenbosch of its kind, we have been operating since 1992. It is a privilege for us to act as hosts in an authentic family house as members of a family living in this beautiful area for 300 years.

We look forward to welcoming you in our home town.

VISITING US

Start the day with a sumptuous breakfast on the terrace with a direct view towards the garden, swimming pool and steeple of the nearby Dutch Reformed Church (1863) on the verge of the historic town centre.

Breakfast in Caledon Villa is more than just breakfast.

A sumptuous hot breakfast and cold buffet is served. Choose your table inside the breakfast room or move outside onto the terrace. Tables are usually set for two, but for groups there are larger tables. Alternatively, smaller tables are put together, because this is where the interesting conversations usually start.

This is also the place and occasion where our guests have time to chat – with each other and with our staff. The coffee pot is topped-up and Johan will lay out his maps on the table to discuss outings and options with his guests.

On a lazy afternoon or after a busy working day, some of our guests enjoy a sundowner under the gazebo. Others decide to have their own “braai” instead of walking to the nearby restaurants.

Our shady garden provides a green oasis in the middle of Stellenbosch. If you climb the 3m spiral staircase to our roof terrace, you will enter another world. Here the aloes and succulents shyly show their special flowers – in total contrast to the lush green of the garden below. Especially for those seeking solitude, sun and meditation space – this is your ideal answer. And in the evening – with a glass of wine in the hand – you can admire the sunset on the mountains and enjoy the special atmosphere.

Our large swimming pool with hand railing for the elderly, provides relief during the hot summer months. This is the focal point of our garden, surrounded by sunny and shady patches. The salt water content ensures a healthy and bright condition of the filtered water.

We have a variety of reclining chairs and other facilities to provide for everyone’s need. Here we also serve tea, coffee and soft drinks.

At the back of the garden we exhibit a large rose quartz rock of about 1 ton, encircled by many water spouts. In the evening the effect of light gives it a fairy-like feeling. Rose quartz spreads the energy of love. The two small animals depicted in mosaic adjacent to the quartz rock, both visit our garden regularly in real life. The chameleon is the symbol of wisdom and the need to change and adapt to new circumstances. The squirrel is the one to collect and care: the essence of running a guest house!

The spacious Yusupov Lounge is ideally suited for presentations, meetings, workshops and conferences.

The venue has a very special ambience with its formal wall paper, a fire-place, original paintings, yellow-wood table and chairs. It can be isolated from the ordinary guest house activities.

Groups not exceeding 10 persons can be provided for. Breakfast, lunch and tea/coffee will be prepared and served on the terrace overlooking the garden area. Rates to be negotiated.
