ABOUT US

It’s no secret that a good builder is hard to find. Isn’t it great then to know that ManBou Construction not only has a list of clients willing to sing their praises, but also has the awards to show for it.

Quality workmanship and service excellence are the cornerstones of Garden Route-based ManBou construction. Combining decades of construction experience, award-winning skills, integrity and hard work, Manbou offers affordable construction, alteration and project management services for small and large building projects.

One of only a few Black Economic Empowerment construction companies in the region, ManBou is registered with the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC), Master Builders Association (MBA), and boasts a spotless safety record. They undertake projects from Mossel Bay to Port Elizabeth.

While skilled to handle large shopping malls, office blocks and large housing developments, ManBou is also passionate about residential housing and the ability to create living space. Whether it is a small alteration or a mansion, Manbou closely consults with the client to ensure that the end product meets their needs and is good value for money.

“We enjoy a challenge and welcome innovative ideas. We are hands-on, meticulous in our administration, and intricately involved in all phases of the building process. We have lasting relationships with our past clients, who gladly refer us to others. You will be pleasantly surprised at our affordable rates and excellent delivery.

THE TEAM

Willie Bouwer -

Incorporating a range of skills including production, safety, management and construction, Willie Bouwer is well known in Knysna for his efficient service under the ManBou banner since 2003. Managing the day-to-day dealings on site, Willie’s confident composure not only ensures calm in the relative chaos of the building process, but also filters through to loyal and happy workers. He is also a keen fisherman with a knack for reeling in the big ones.

Francis Cusens -

Francis considers building an art form – creating masterpieces of his clients’ vision is his pride and passion. He is the owner and founder (1994) of Cusens Construction, has a National Diploma in Construction Management (Wits) and more than two decades of construction experience on a wide range of projects that include factories, shopping malls, hospitals and high rise buildings. Following his move from Gauteng to the Garden Route, Francis combined efforts with ManBou on several upmarket housing projects. The relationship grew into an amalgamation in 2007, which resulted in the company being able to offer the entire design, building and project management package under one roof. Generally responsible for client liaison, comprehensive safety reports and administration, Francis personally oversees the process from conception to completion, or ‘housing from budget to masterpieces’, as he likes to call it. He is also a passionate motor car racer and is sponsored by ManBou Construction.

Emmie Bouwer -

The efficient voice on the phone and woman behind the scenes is Emmie Bouwer, ManBou’s office manager. With a management degree and several years’ experience of the ins and outs of the building industry, Emmie is the go-between, voice of reason, and general organiser who runs the team and company like clockwork.. She is also wife to Willie and an upbeat mom and grandmother.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Manbou Construction is involved in the sponsoring of several efforts, most significantly the FC United soccer team of Knysna. The team, which has done well in the local league, is mostly represented by employees of ManBou.

Dedicated to the overall upliftment of its staff and their communities, ManBou has assisted their workers in improving their own homes, and contributed towards ongoing training and mentorship. “We are committed to raising the skill levels and standard of living of our workers and their respective families. As a result we have an excellent relationship with our staff and great team spirit exist among us. This attitude naturally filters through into their work, producing the levels of service and workmanship that our clients have grown accustomed to over the years.”

Recent developments have changed the ManBou Construction BEE approach to incorporate their own loyal workers into the ownership and mentorship programme. Details of a new partner will soon be finalised.
