ABOUT US

The farm Mosslands is situated on the N2, 108km from Port Elizabeth and 18km from Grahamstown, in the Eastern Cape. The tranquility and beauty of the Kariega and Assegaai River valleys makes the hiking trail a must for nature lovers who need to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The full trail is of medium difficulty and is designed to be completed over two days. Over night accommodation is provided in farm cottages and cabins along the route. Should you prefer a shorter walking experience- Day hikes as well as custom packages can be arranged.

Rich in abundance of birds such as African Crowned Eagles, Knysna Turacos (Louries), six Weaver species, Knysna and Olive Woodpeckers, this trail is a for birders. It meanders through bush, along river banks, and under a natural canopy of Euphorbia, Yellow Wood, Milkwood and Sneezewood trees. Antelope such as Bush-buck, Mountain Reedbuck, Blue and Common Duiker, Grysbok, Waterbuck and Kudu are abundant on the farm and are spotted along the way. 

ACCOMMODATION

ALLDAYS AND ONIONS COTTAGE

Alldays and Onions farm cottage is a private self-catering cottage, for two guests, on Mosslands farm, 18km from Grahamstown. The cottage has it’s own private garden overlooking the indigenous valley bushveld, and old oak trees.

The cottage is self-catering with a fully equipped kitchen. The bedroom has a queen size bed with all bedding and towels supplied. The en-suite bathroom has a shower. There is a TV with full DSTV access (on request) Braai facilities are available, in a private garden, and for chilly evenings there is a fireplace inside the bedroom.

TRAIL ACCOMODATION

Medbury Cottage

Over the years Medbury has been the home to Trek Boers, hay, packing citrus, sheltering sheep and housing farm staff until it was restored by Neil, Sally, Mike, Ingrid and farm staff for the trail.
