Since 2020, Mr Van Der Merwe who owns all 4 pharmacies, in Swellendam, Ashton and Bonnievale. has denied me legitimate pain medication within the legal doses per week on several occasions. He has chased me out of the store physically pushing me around and trying to shove me out of the door. The situation began early 2020 when he accused me of not wearing my mask over my nose. He called the police on me. Since that time, I wear the mask however he requires but he just refuses to serve me. On one occasion at the Ashton pharmacy he wasn't even wearing a mask himself, while shouting at me and shoving me out the door. He even goes so far as to putting all the medication together and then suddenly turning around and saying, no I have decided you can't have it. He has done this on many occasions the last being at his Bonnievale pharmacy. I didn't realize this was yet another of his pharmacies otherwise I would not have gone there. He chased me out of the shop once again, pushing and shoving and all this, because I realized very early on that the mask was useless and very dangerous to my health but nevertheless, wore it as required because I had no choice if I wanted to be served. He abuses his power as a pharmacist who can provide much needed pain medication for a very painful hip problem I have just because he can. There is no other reason for his treatment and he is essentially denying me medication on the basis that he doesn't like me. This is totally unprofessional and has now been reported to the Pharmacy Council because he holds all the cards. He owns all the pharmacies in the area. In order to receive medication I am now required to drive over 100kms to the nearest big town of Robertson because this despicable man is abusing his power and refusing very crucial pain medication. I only ask for what is legally permitted, I do not take the medication in excess and his only reason for causing so much pain and trouble is because, he doesn't like me. He is a disgusting man who seems not to care about patients but who makes a huge amount of money from all the pharmacies he owns. If I lived in a bigger place it wouldn't matter but he is punishing me for daring to stand up for myself and using blackmail and aggressive behaviour to intimidate me and in the end, denies me any medication.
