I left Kate's hair salon wanting to cry, trembling by what I had just encountered. I walked in and my initial encounter was light and welcoming.
My hair is naturally curly and healthy looking both in it's natural state as well straightened (with heat products: i.e: hair dryer).
The hairdresser began to section my hair and use the right brushes. However, she then began to use a brush that is not meant to be used when blow drying curly hair. She used a paddle brush to 'finish off' her blow dry. This caused my hair to splint at the ends and my roots to not be straight.
She asked me if I am happy, and I said I am not. She then proceeded to just carry on blowing my hair to 'get everything straight'.
When I continued to tell her that I am not happy, she proceeded to be quite rude.
She said that my hair was too curly for her to get straight. She blamed the fact that I had 'very curly hair', 'too curly' for her to manage to do a good job.
At this point I was too shocked to form words.
I asked her then if I am to pay the full price and she sarcastically said 'Jaa-aah'.
I left Kate's Hair Salon trembling and wanting to cry by a business's racial bias and complete ignorance.
